Supported File Formats, Upload Limits, and Data Handling

PaperCheck produces the best results when it receives a clean document and the right analysis context.

Supported Formats

  • PDF (.pdf) for stable rendering and preserved formatting
  • Word (.docx) for working drafts and ongoing revisions

Practical Limits

  • Word count should stay below 48,000 words (approximately 150 pages), file size below 50 MB, and the number of analysis versions depends on your package.
  • Shorter papers may qualify for discounts. See Billing and Plans for details.
  • If a file cannot be processed reliably, start with Troubleshooting.

Data Handling

  • The document is processed to generate feedback, checks, and, when available, defense-preparation aids.
  • During upload, you can choose whether extracted content and feedback should be deleted automatically afterward.
  • Your data is not used for model training.
